This consortium brings together key knowledge and experience required to successfully deliver a tidal energy project of this scale including technology, operations, logistics, environmental, commercial, finance and regulation. Together, the SEASTAR team has the experience and skills required to successfully deliver this flagship project.

Nova Innovation (UK)

NOVA is one of the most experienced tidal technology developers, project developers and site operators in the world. Their proven M100D turbine is one of a handful of devices to have successfully demonstrated consistent, long-term, in-sea generation. NOVA has successfully delivered every project it has taken on, including major collaborative EU projects ELEMENT and EnFAIT, and will coordinate an expert team in the SEASTAR project.

Ocean Energy Europe (Belgium)

OEE is the voice of the ocean energy sector in Europe and the largest network of ocean energy professionals in the world. They bring to this project their unrivalled network of ocean energy contacts, from companies and universities to regulators and policymakers, and their expertise in high-impact communication and dissemination.

Wood Group Kenny (Ireland)

WOOD is a global leader in consulting and engineering, delivering solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets. They work in more than 60 countries and employ over 35,000 people worldwide. Having verified and validated the original M100D design, WOOD are perfectly placed to draw on their in-depth offshore engineering and renewable energy experience to lead verification and validation in the SEASTAR project, and will also advise on digital strategy and investment strategy through the ISG.

Ocean Wave Venture (Ireland)

WAVE is a specialist offshore renewable energy consultancy and software provider. Over the past 15 years the company has developed unique capabilities and understanding in ocean energy technology R&D. In SEASTAR, WAVE modelling software will be used for techno-economic modelling and optimisation of the array, including met-ocean analysis for offshore operations, and derivation of key metrics like Capex, Opex and LCOE.

NIE (Ireland)

NIE, a wholly owned subsidiary (affiliate) of NOVA, will be responsible for managing the project consortium. NIE has been established to lead the development of NOVA’s European business development and project portfolio. Should the UK fail to associate with Horizon Europe, NIE will take on the project coordinator role from NOVA.

The European Marine Energy Centre (UK)

EMEC is the world’s leading marine energy test centre. More devices have been tested at EMEC than anywhere else in the world, giving them unique insight and experience in tidal project delivery & environmental monitoring. Their consented, grid-connected Fall of Warness site provides a unique, existing platform to de-risk this project

Renewable Risk Advisors (UK)

RRA is a specialist risk management/insurance claims consultancy that has advised developers & insurers on the risks and rewards of marine energy for over a decade. In SEASTAR, RRA will advise on project insurance strategy and help to interface with the insurance market and investors to maximise the bankability this and future projects.

Leask Marine (UK)

LSK is one of the foremost marine energy operators in the world. They have intimate knowledge of the EMEC site and have worked with NOVA to deploy and recover their M100D technology in Shetland. Their quayside industrial facility in Orkney provides the ideal base for marshalling, launch and recovery of turbines in array volumes.

SKF and SKF Marine (Germany)

SKF group (including SKF and SKM), one of Europe’s leading industrial firms, is the world’s leading supplier of rotating equipment. The company is a strong proponent of ocean energy and has supported NOVA on their journey for ten years. They bring to this project their holistic MSU solution that is a key component of the M100D device, and their deep knowledge and experience of industrial manufacturing, from design concept to mass production.

DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach (Austria)

DLAP is a multinational law firm with offices in over 40 countries throughout the world and is the leading global law firm in renewable energy. In SEASTAR, DLAP will advise on the legal, commercial, financial and insurance strategy for development of this project, with the aim of enhancing the bankability of future large arrays.

Primo Marine (The Netherlands)

PRMA is a leading independent consulting engineer for the installation and protection of subsea cable systems and pipelines. During the 25 years of its existence PRMA has contributed to over 280 worldwide projects of all sizes (from <1MW to >2GW) and during all project stages. With this experience PRMA is excellently equipped to contribute to the cable related reliability of this project

Nature Positive (UK)

NAPO is an environmental, sustainability and business specialist consultancy that helps business manage risks and become part of the solution for a sustainable economy. In SEASTAR they will advise on sustainability best practice for manufacturing & operations to minimise the project environmental footprint and maximise recyclability.
